Books, to some are pages or screens filled with words. They are mandatory literature texts thrust upon students by their English teachers.

To many others they are portals to new worlds, the characters ad guides taking you into their lives, thoughts and experiences.

Readers, (me included), refer to themselves as different things and with different titles. Some may be fans of the author knowing every book they have ever published or fans of the characters themselves having connected with personalities and thinking process of these fictional people that if you were to happen upon them describing these characters you would be forced to believe that they were real people. However, whatever they choose to call themselves they are part of the book’s fandom a sort of kingdom.

In this kingdom, book readers from all around the world can connect to each other on different platforms. Here it does not matter your gender, age, race or skin colour the only thing that is important is your love for the book or books in question. Readers are joined by the characters, united by their struggles and are truly seen in the face of the characters’ experiences.

The fandom allows each reader to have a voice, to join in the conversation on how the wish or would have wanted the books’ plot to go. The best thing is that even if your ideas are not popular opinion, you find comfort in the fact that you are not alone in your thoughts about the plot.

The characters envelop you spinning a different reality, telling a tale full of joy, sorrow and expectations. They let you into their minds, so you can think like them, feel what they feel and they ultimately help us to become better versions of ourselves.

Finally, to me books are a part of life, they serve as food for the mind and routes to alternative dimensions.
