and project exhibition to mark the relevance of Science to humanity, and to witness discoveries and inventions made by young talented Science students from secondary schools within and outside Abuja.
The day kicked off with an array of schools in attendance namely; Great Heights Academy, Chrisland Academy, Redeemer’s College, Blooms Academy and our very own Premiere Academy, all keenly competing for the prize of the day. Also present were a panel of judges from selected schools, time keeper, the moderator, students from invited schools, the school Principal (Mr Rowland Eno) and the Supervising Director (Mr Akintomide), who represented the Board.
The Principal of Premiere Academy,Mr Rowland Eno, started with a brief opening speech to set the tone. He encouraged the brilliant students to put in their best efforts to achieve their desired goals. He wished them luck in the competitions and told them of the inner joy that filled him as he stood in their midst to witness the competitions. He was delighted and wished them a successful and fulfilling competition.
Without wasting time the quiz competitions took the centre stage, as the anchor and moderator if the Science day, Mr Obinna Okonkwo(HOD Science, Premiere Academy) introduced the panel of judges and the accurate time keepers, who mounted their seats. The crowd watched in excitement as he began reeling out the questions for each segment. The session started with Biology to calm the tension followed by questions in Chemistry and Physics. The students gave their best as they answered the questions to the best of their ability, and the crowd reacted with loud expressions of joy or disappointment at every point of the session.
After a well-fought contest, with all the teams showing decorum and sportsmanship, Premiere Academy emerged in first position in the quiz competition, narrowly defeating Great Heights Academy as first runner up. Blooms Academy and Redeemers College came in third and fourth positions, respectively. To the excitement of the crowd the quiz master and anchor, Mr Obinna named Premiere Academy as the winner, and ushered the crowd to march down the hall for a quick snack and light refreshments.
Immediately following the refreshment session and a after a short break, was the time for project exhibition and inspection. Everyone watched in amazement and awe as students defended their projects before the schools and judges.
Once again Premiere students did their school proud as they came up with four unique projects that impressed the crowd, namely:
- An astronomical telescope by SS1 students: Grace Kalu-Umeh and George Ojirika
- Smartphone-controlled robot car By Omeiza Hannah (SS1)
- LDR traffic light system by JSS1 students, Jabiru Muhammed and Ngilari Japhia Bala

After the brilliant students thrilled the crowd with their incredible projects, the prizes for the best projects were awarded by the Head of Learning (Mr Chris Akinsowon),who gave the closing remarks. He thanked all invited students for coming, and acknowledged the efforts put into their work. He urged them to keep it up and keep improving as there is no limit to their potential.
